A Little About Me

My name is Ashu. I’m an engineer by day and, apparently, an engineer by night too.

I play card games, I’m diabetic, and I run two small stores: NavyCow Designs and Type1.Tech. Both stores are built around the things my life revolves around outside of my family.

Through NavyCow Designs, I make deck boxes and accessories for card games. Through Type1.Tech, I make insulin pen cases and accessories for diabetics.

I started out as a weekend woodworker, but I fell in love with 3D printing because it lets me bring engineering ideas to life in hours instead of weeks. It is easier to iterate, and I can work on designs at pretty much any hour of the day or night.

My design focus is efficient use of materials and functional design. Every single print is designed to avoid supports and minimize color changes wherever possible, because both create extra waste. I also try to reduce assembly time by building engineering features directly into the design, like print-in-place hinges.

I’ve been doing this for about one year, and the Type1.Tech line is the result of constantly testing, improving, and trying to make the designs more useful every day.
